Born in Ireland to parents of Scots/English parentage, I was raised in Ireland (Co. Wicklow and Co. Dublin) and the Highlands of Scotland (Argyll); moved to New Zealand with my husband when I was 25 and then to Bahrain ten years later.  We remained there, bringing up our two daughters now aged 26 and 18, though we had a home in Nelson, New Zealand.

I've enjoyed taking photos since I received my first camera when I was about seven and have always footled around with descriptive writing; I've earned my living writing from time to time. In March 2013, having been blipping for 18 months, I enrolled in an evening course on Digital Photography for Beginners, which was useful. In February 2015 I started on a Diploma in Writing for Creative Industries at the local polytech, which kept me busy until the end of 2016.

After 16 years of living in the Middle East and travelling around, I came Nelson, New Zealand in January 2012 with our younger daughter. The political situation in Bahrain at the time was unstable and we were concerned about her schooling.  This resulted in ours becoming an 'archipelago' family with my husband in Bahrain with visits to New Zealand; Daughter No. 1 now living in Wellington and Daughter No. 2 and me in Nelson, with visits to Bahrain from time to time. Thus it's a rather 'Here and There' journal, hence my blip name. It will be interesting to see where 2017 takes me, as Daughter No. 2 is now finished with school and out in the big, wide world.
