I am a Kenyan fine art, black and white photographer focusing on waterscapes. Since I was a teenager I have been captivated and inspired by black & white photography believing that monochrome distills to the essence of the photograph, allowing the viewer to see tones, contrast and texture that would otherwise be missed.

As a photographer my current passion and focus is long exposure waterscape. My website: www.ziamanji.com

As a trained analogue photographer I had my own darkroom for many years and has remained true to the art of black & white photography. In 2010 I transitioned into digital photography, but remained faithful to analogue techniques, processing my images on computer but limiting any manipulation to techniques that could be replicated in the darkroom.

In mid 2012 I held my first Exhibition - entitled 'Equilibrium' with 30 photographs from my solitary pursuit of subjects including the beaches of the Indian Ocean, the lakes of the Great Rift and France, waterways in Venice and the lochs of Scotland.

Professionally, I am a director of a consulting company based in Kenya. I was born and brought up here but also lived 4 years in Scotland whilst at University in Edinburgh.

I am new to Blipfoto and learnt about it when I watched 'Scotland the world over'. I live in Nairobi which is not exactly the most picturesque place to photograph but I hope that by trying to photograph each day I will come to appreciate it more.
