Ultimately, we are to some degree alone in the world, no one can experience life exactly as we do.  Yet we attempt to bridge that divide mentally and physically.  One of the most powerful ways is by sharing.  Sharing a photograph is a way of reaching out and saying "this is how I see and experience life around me."  "Do you see what I see, do you resonate to the same image?"

I once took a black and white image of a beach town in the winter, with an older women in a long coat walking by herself on the deserted boardwalk.  The image and its mood spoke to me, but I found that no one else who viewed the image seemed drawn to it.

Then one day a young woman said to me, "I love this image."  Excited, I asked her why.  She pointed to a billboard in the photo that said "George's Lucky Bingo," and replied "I have an uncle named George and he loves Bingo."

Not quite what I had hoped for, but I keep on trying...
