I can't remember when it was, but sometime in the last couple of weeks Ewan mentioned something about basketball. Since then we've been slowly crafting a backboard, hoop and net.

We used an offcut of the toilet boxing wood to make the backboard, painting it white and adding leccy tape for the markings. This is the finished hoop made from elderflower branches that we've been clearing from the back of the garden.

Next job is the engineering quandary of how to attach the hoop to the backboard.
