Daffs Snaps

Eyes down

I was in Southampton today looking for a suit or armour (don't ask!) and as I came out of the Red Lion Tudor Inn (sober!) eyes down heading for the bus stop I spotted this plaque in the recently laid pavement. I have no idea what it refers to unless Southampton was originally called Hamwic. I tried Google but the only thing I found was a photo of more plaques! When I have more time I shall see if Tourist Information know any more!

I need a suit of armour for our next production - a play called Burying the Hatchets which is set in a Medieval Castle, - there is one in the Red Lion but it's made out of fibreglass so will have the check with the Director to see if it's suitable.
