Smash

Badminton is a weekly oasis of merry banter and (mostly) sporting endeavour. Sadly, work commitments get in the way as often as not and games are increasingly rare for me.

This shot seems to sum up the game as we play it. Hugh "Gibber" Gibson is a study in concentration as he delivers his winning smash. Yet, even in the blur you can see the flaws in his technique and be sure that the shuttle is destined to embed itself in the lower part of the net.

Never underestimate the power of sport to rejuvenate and entertain.
