Land of Enchantment

Cottonwood Mall

I hate shopping malls. I rarely get close to one. Today we had tickets for the Metropolitan Opera at the Movies and this is the theater location. I had seen John Adams' opera Nixon in China in Brooklyn back in 1987 when it was first performed. It was terrific to see this lavish production. The benefit of seeing the faces up close rather than as tiny specks from the cheap seats was an added bonus. Mark Morris' choreography was even more amazing than I remembered. The weirdest thing I couldn't forget the first time I saw the opera. Henry Kissinger asks Chau en Lai to direct him to the toilet and then he never returns.
