Poundbury # 3: Work in progress

This shows the South West quadrant of the Poundbury site, where most of the building is happening at the moment. You may be able to make out a mixture of building styles on the horizon - there's a kind of Dutch gable in the centre, something classical on the left, blue weatherboarding on the right. Is it a hideous jumble of anachronistic styles, or is it an important attempt to create interest and diversity? I can't decide and neither can most people.

Also, is this the most restrained McDonalds on earth? The whitewashed building on the left is a McDonalds restaurant, but they've hidden the signs so that viewed from Maiden Castle (behind the photgrapher) it just looks like an old rural cottage, which is basically what it is.
