This is the rail bridge over Coos Bay. Built by the American Bridge Company in 1914 for the Southern Pacific Railroad, it connects Coos Bay, OR to the rest of the world. It is a swing bridge which causes a bit of a bottle neck to the shipping channel upstream. Combine this with the Hwy 101 bridge upstream and the pilot boats which guide the large ships into the bay sometimes have their work cut out for them.
