Happy 3rd Un-Birthday!

Since wee D's third birthday is on Tuesday coming, we held a wee party for him in the house today - a few of his wee friends came along, and most of the family too.

Wee D, however, was not in the mood for a party, and hated being the centre of attention. He spent the whole time hiding his face and shying away from anyone who dared to talk to him. And when everyone started to sing 'Happy Birthday' he set off on a screaming session. Oh dear!

Even presents were refused, most unlike him. It wasn't until almost bedtime, when most of the guests had left, that he decided to open just two of his presents. The first was a set of teeny Toy Story 3 figures that he instantly loved, the second was this Playmobil Egyptian pyramid from me and daddy - and thankfully he loved this too (maybe not quite as much as wee C?!!) and he and his sister played with it until he was too tired to stay awake any longer.

Wee C stayed up a bit later to join us in a Sing Star battle, very nearly beating one of her aunties at a Lady Gaga number, and trying her best to defeat her daddy by doing a great rendition of the Fratellis' Chelsea Dagger....

On a more sombre note, my Grandad passed away today. My dad had travelled away down to the south of England at the crack of dawn this morning to be with him - so glad he got there in time to be with him at the end, along with the majority of his brothers and sisters. It's been a sad start to the year for my dad's side of our family, with the death of my newest baby cousin two weeks ago, after only two short weeks of life - she was born with a heart defect, and despite the best efforts of the staff at Alder Hey hospital, she was unable to be saved.
