Game Night

"Moooooommy, Daaaaaaaady, is it time for game night now?" Our kids must have asked us this question ten different times throughout the day today. Needless to say, yes they were excited for game night tonight. We were invited over to my brother and sister in-law's house for "breakfast for dinner" and game night.

We do enjoy "breakfast for dinner" and this one went above and beyond. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, cinnamon rolls, and a margarita for the Mommy's and Daddy's. Okay the margarita didn't really fit into the breakfast category but it sure was yummy to sip on before dinner. The bigger boys sat at their own table and studied lego magazines as they ate and the rest of us sat and enjoyed dinner together at the dining room table.

Buzz was in the air about 'game night' so as soon as the table was cleared and dinner was put away, we started our family game. Tonight's game, "Lego Creationary". The teams were, 'Kids vs. Parents', and my nephew made the most adorable little chart to keep score. He had a 'P' for parents and a 'C' for kids. So funny and so very cute. And the kids pretty much won. And this is not an easy game. For instance, if you pick a card that says, 'Island', you are expected to build an island out of legos. And you should have seen the island that my nephew built. It had the brown sand, blue water, and even a palm tree. And he builds fast! And our son was so cute playing this game and trying to keep up with his cousin. My nephew is so incredibly patient and helpful. Just a really sweet kid. And the little kids, well the little kids were very funny. They were climbing all over everyone and building things here and there. I told my youngest nephew that he needed to help his Uncle with this game. And he took that very seriously and you could see how proud he felt of himself knowing that he was in charge of helping his Uncle build the little projects. What a darling little boy.

After the game, our oldest nephew ran up to his Mom and 'whispered' "Can our cousins spend the night???" Yes. The kids were so excited to have a sleep over. Their first sleep over with their cousins. And a first sleep over for our daughter. And she was so excited. She barely had time for goodbyes as we left tonight. She was laughing and running up the stairs, and getting her babies ready for night night. Our son was a little apprehensive at first and that really surprised us. But it was because he wanted, 'Mystery'. His baby doggy. That has never been an issue because he never liked stuffed animals but things have changed and he got tears in his eyes when he realized that Mystery wouldn't be going night night with him. Soooo, my husband drove home to get Mystery and PJ's and toothbrushes. And the sleep overs have officially begun. Next up....our house. Fun fun times ahead for these four special little kids!
