Purple

Today was "Purple Day" at school. Everyone, even us staff, dressed up in purple and donated money for the privilege to raise funds for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Most other places had already held their purple events but we were a little held up for various reasons. Our school council even baked cakes to sell as part of the fundraising.

Our purple day was announced to the students on Tuesday 22nd Feb, about 3 hours before the Christchurch earthquake hit. We didn't want to postpone this yet again, and didn't want to detract from this fundraising event, so we are going to hold our red and black day in a couple of weeks.

When we hold events like this I am always really impressed at how well the kids support it and how "into it" they get. This is N. I think she was seeing how many shades of purple she could put together in one outfit. She did a superb job and was of the place winners for our "best dressed" competition (as she usually is in all our similar events because of her enthusiasm). Well done N. Your effort and involvement does you, and us, proud!
