The Untrained Eye

Cracked Pot

This is a vase I bought in Japan many years ago.

I am sure it wasn't expensive but it was a reminder of the visits I'd made.

It was broken shortly after but was repaired by a trainee potter friend and we never got around to the repainting and.... was it worth it?

We keep it because it reminds us of those times and also that nothing has to be perfect to be precious.

Sadly I was reminded of it today with the news of the earthquake in Japan and the dreadful pictures coming to us. Memories aren't always good. Only sometimes.
