Crackle ... Fiz .... Bang!

A small sculpture in Coatbridge of a stick of gelignite.

The caption states -

'Miners used sticks of gelignite to blast fireclay out of the ground to make bricks to line iron furnaces. Sometimes they took them home in their pockets. One man popped a stick in the oven to dry out. It blew off the front of his house!'
