Poplar flowers

These elegant large catkins swaying in the breeze belong to a large poplar tree, probably a black poplar populus nigra or a variety thereof. There are lots of these planted beside a drainage channel on the business park where I work, and each tree is laden with these dangling flowers at present. To be honest I never noticed these stunning catkins before, but blip has opened my eyes to many things.
