Mandy's Snaps

Gothic Eagle

A first for me this morning; I managed to combine walking the dog with taking a photograph. This may not seem like much of an achievement for many people, but up until now, I have not dared to even try mastering this skill on my own whilst training a young, strong and boisterous Labrador. However, at 8 months old, she is getting better. The sun was shining, it was pleasantly warm, and we had a lovely walk together.

We tried a different walk today as well; maybe that is why she was so good - lots of new things to investigate along the way. Didn't do the seafront, but walked inland a little, into the village of Angmering, which is about the same distance as the sea but in the opposite direction.

I spotted this eagle at the entrance to 'Gothic House' - in fact, there was a pair of them standing either side of the driveway. Not much info on the internet about it's history, but I did find out that Gothic House used to be an annexe for the Nuns of the Holy Cross that used to occupy another building a little further up the road. This is now the Angmering Manor Hotel (formerly Syon House when it existed as a convent guest house caring for convalescents).

Whoever thought that walking the dog could open up your eyes to so much history!
