William Henry Playfair - The National Gallery of S

Still raining - horrible. But back on the Playfair trail. This is the National Gallery of Scotland. As you can see - an elaborate neoclassical edifice, it stands on The Mound, between the two parts of Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens. It was first opened to the public in 1859. In 2004 they created an underground link between the Gallery and the Royal Scottish Academy next door - also providing exhibition space, cafe, restaurant, shop etc - and named it in honour of the man himself, the Playfair Project.

I love the National Gallery - it exhibits masterpieces from a wide range of art. It would be hard to say what is my favourite.
