Geuzenpenning memorial wreath

The 25th annual Geuzenpenning commemoration took place in Vlaardingen yesterday. An array of beautiful wreaths placed by the Geuzenmonument (war memorial) outside the Grote Kerk (great church).

The Geuzenpenning is awarded each year to people and organizations working for human rights and who are against dictatorship, discrimination and racism. This year it was handed to Afghan human rights activist Sima Samar and also the Dutch armed forces.
