the point of pounding

My head has been banging for days. Which in synesthesian terms looks almost exactly like this* to me - a solid block - a kind of dull, fiery pulse of redness radiating into bloody black. I also sometimes see its edges fringed in a border of pin-needle off-whites, but the blipgodmods stepped in with that bit and gotted it out.
