Land of Enchantment

Fiesta Jarabe

I went over to the performing arts center at UNM at the end of the day to hear an old friend, Philip Glass, speak about his life and music. It has been more than 10 years since we worked together, but I was happy to know that he had not forgotten me. He was very engaging and quite entertaining filling an hour with only four or five questions. I never knew that he played billiards with Ornette Coleman or worked as Richard Serra's assistant.

This giant fiberglass sculpture is right outside of the theater complex. It was made in the 1980s by artist Luis Jimenez. Sadly the artist died in his studio about 4 years ago when he was crushed by one of his works in progress.
