blear little thing

The only two times I've been present when the child was collected from nursery he's been wailing his wee head off. The staff were very insistent today when handing him over that he hadn't been doing it all day and that it was only since 16:30 that he'd been like that. It's almost entirely due to a combination of tiredness and hunger, the hunger hopefully solvable by leaving some rice-cakes or something to dribble on and the former hopefully solvable by getting him to stay asleep rather than spending several hours not sleeping properly and ending up much more tired than he ought to be to the extent that he starts copying the tired-faces we must be inadvertently making at him. There might also be a mismatch between his natural morning nap-window and the official nursery morning nap-time, though this could be fixed by him waking up an hour or so later than he currently insists. There's an extra layer of material over the top of the curtain in his room tonight to see if he can be prevented from responding too readily to environmental cues until we can sort out a proper blackout lining for the curtain.
