Dawn - Christchurch Memorial Day 18/03/2011

Very misty morning this morning, the day Christchurch has a Memorial Service for the victims of the February22 earthquake.

Not only for the people who died or are still missing, but for the broken homes and businesses and lives shattered by the quake. For the grieving families, and for all those whose sense of security has been lost, probably forever.

Living here, and with our home only moderately damaged and still liveable, we didn't' realize until we left for a few days how much the earthquake had actually affected us.

For those who are really suffering, having lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods I can't imagine how the future feels for them.

The support is there now, but will it still be there in the months and years to come, as others move on with lives barely touched. Somehow it must be.
