Dark-eyed Junco

Junco hyemalis

A fairly common bird in Northern California, but generally during the winter they are elusive and shy. Come Spring, they start to get out and build nests, feed, and do what birds do (you know - birds and bees...).

I was actually out looking for These guys (I did catch one). However, this little Junco was feeding on the newly sprouted Oak catkins and seeds so he became blip of the day. It's still a spring theme.

Enjoy everyone - the weekend is almost here.
