All Hands in Defence

Change of image for me today. We had a long meander via Loch Fyne, Loch Long and Loch Lomond back to our roots at Dumbarton Football ground by the Castle Rock. Being suporters since the early sixties we have many fond memories of games at Boghhead and then at the new Strathclyde Homes Park beside Dumbarton Castle.

Today's game against East Fife was an exciting game having gone down 1-0 to East Fife then equalised at 1-1 before half time. The second half was just as exciting with some really enthusiastic and sometimes skilful passing.( Sorry Campbell for the "sometimes" but that's how I saw it ) .

At this point in the game Dumbarton had a free kick in front of the East Fife goal and the thin red line of defence , were defending , I think , more than just the goalmouth. I got this shot from the other end of the pitch so it has been cropped a fair bit. I just loved the expressions on their faces and the absolute concentration on the ball about to be kicked in their direction. Thought the advert for mobility on their shirts was just a wee bit at odds with their absolutely immobile stand.

Looking forward to the big game at the Emirates Stadium as we managed to get tickets for the Scotland v Brazil game next Sunday - talk about the underdogs; but then I'm a Dumbarton supporter and I still have vivid memories of the Scottish Cup Semi final against Celtic where we took them to a replay and they had to work really hard to win the second game . Somehow don't think Scotland will do that aginst Brazil but it will be a thrill to be at this game. Taking the camera but there won't be any photos of the pitch as we are up at the top of the stadium.
