Haunted Halls

in the darkness
a creature lurks
within the darkened halls

one that waits for those to pass
and strikes
when darkness calls

it's face is green
and filled with spots
of enemies who would fight back

it's arms are skinny
and long but scary
because they are the darkest black

it's legs are fat
and short and red
to match these halls in color

but it likes to sit
and watch the people
and watch and learn and ponder

The beast is familiar
i know his eyes
his ears, and his nose too

i've seen him before
in a dream, or a vision
when i was feeling blue

I hear his thoughts
and see his hands
and look out into the sky

and with my head
green face, red legs, black arms and all
i ponder

why?
