Tasmanian Native-hen

Day 18 The Tasmanian Native-hen (Gallinula mortierii)
The Tasmanian Native-hen (Gallinula mortierii) is a flightless rail common throughout Tasmania wherever there is water.
They are frequently seen running away since they are generally shy but a family on the river beside our campsite at Deloraine had become habituated to human presence and so were easier to photograph.
They have a raucous call that builds up to a crescendo (often in the middle of the night)

This is the first of my back-blips covering the week away camping. The final back-blip will be for the 21st March.
