Mission impossible

You might recognise Tweedy from Monday's blip

She's our Preventative Conservator at the museum and she's staring at a pheromone moth trap.

People have asked me before about whether treasures ever get stolen and if we have high tech security... little do they realise that one of the biggest worries we have are these little ba***rds... as they munch through anything organic, fabric, feathers, all our lovely stuffed animals can be massacred but these little buggers. This is a Tineola bisselliella (clothes moths to us non scientific types) and they're in museums all over the world...

Many an unglamorous day I have spent with a backpack hoover on, cleaning underneath and on top of display cases, under Tweedy's instruction. Destroy the food source, quarantine objects, stop them breeding, vigilance is key!!. Poor Tweedy she has dreams or should I say nightmares about these critters, but she's doing a grand job...
