This was one of the more unusual finds on our litter pick for the local Big Tidy Up this morning. Other odd finds included a large CD player complete with plug, two kettles, a toaster and various bike parts. We cleaned a small green area popular with local dog walkers (boots are now outside awaiting a good hosing!). I took lots of photos of the team in action but didn't ask them about blipping so thought an inanimate object might be best for today.

We collected four large bags of recyclable materials (paper, glass, cans and plastic bottles) plus four more rubbish sacks containing hundreds of crisp packets, cigarette ends and packs and assorted crud.

The special moment of the day for me was when we came across a large slow-worm (Anguis fragilis hiding in the leaves. They are surprisingly fast and so my photos were useless. Fantastic thing to see so close to home though - my previous spots of these have been in nature reserves.

Now worn out and wondering if we'll have time to go for another walk (without litter picking) before the much needed grocery order is delivered.
