needless to state quite how much

A few things crossed off a list of things to be done, including opacifying Edgar's window to try and persuade him that keeping quiet and going back to sleep is the way forward despite the lightening mornings. He almost stayed awake until what was formerly seven o'clock so ought not to wake up until at least his normal time plus one hour. It might not make any difference but one morning last week I went to collect him when we gave up trying to get back to sleep and found him compressed into the head end of his cot, peering at the light peering through the edge of the curtain. Quite what he was saying to it remains unknown. Nicky also achieved a free (bar the cost of petrol to collect it and a packet of chocolate she voluntarily gifted the donor) pannier-rack child-seat and I got to pop out for a trundle whilst she was off getting that, also popping out a bit later and hopefully now being ready to sleep soundly for at least six hours.

Or at least 5½ hours. He coughed and cried a few times (including a protracted scrark from midnight until half past) but went back to sleep by himself. There were a few wee peeps just before six but he didn't start shouting until just after, possibly encouraged by the washing machine clicking on. Otherwise, eight at night until six in the morning, though it unfortunately doesn't count as the seventh ever night because of the squeaks, though it was at least intervention-free.
