Walkerville Lime Kilns

Another great day today! We went and looked at another house this morning here but it was really damp and dirty so we are not even considering it as a holiday rental! We packed up and went to Walkerville this morning. Yesterday afternoon when we were there it was coming up to high tide but this morning the tide was much further out! We first went to the Cape Liptrap Lighthouse and had a look around then went down to the beach where the Lime Kilns are.

There were six kilns that were built over 120 years ago. There was no road access to Walkerville at that stage so the lime, once burnt and bagged, was transported to Melbourne in ships. There are remains of the old jetty on the beach and four of the six kilns.

I took a few shots and we played around on the rocks and in the water. We came home for lunch and then Spence was supposed to be having a sleep but just mucked about in his room! Dad came over to pick up a couple of things that he left here yesterday. Dad left and then the three of us went down to the beach for a play on the sand and a surf! The sky was clear, there was no wind and the water was lovely!

Spence is watching Monsters Inc now and we are about have butter chicken for tea!! Here is a three exposure HDR of the main kiln that has been restored a bit so people can walk up in it!
