Living happily together

The ferns and moss live quite happily on this massive oak branch situated in a wood nearby that is open to the public in summer months.

My Australian cousin's widower is over here for a few weeks from Melbourne and so we took the opportunity of walking in the wood before it rains on Wednesday! I saw my first Wood Anemones of the year, peacock butterfly and various wild flowers.

The escaped Simmental is now back in the fold after it was spotted on the railway embankment just resting there. The railway men were very helpful in cutting the wire (the cow took no notice and jumped the full height of the fence further down!) and with their help N and T and a neighbouring farmer were able to get it back a little worse for wear. The animal is with some other cattle now and in a few days time we may be able to get it back to where it came from!
