OSLO LOST THEIR GRAND OLD LADY YESTERDAY

Wenche Foss, our beloved actress for over 60 years died yesterday, 93 year old.
People put flowers and candles beside her statue today. A rose in each of her hands.

Listen to how see reads the poem Vår små søsken by Inger Hagerup. Translation follows. The poem meant alot to her since she herself had a son with Downs syndrom.

Our little sisters and brothers

We have a little sister
we have a little brother
who are a little different
to other kids on earth.
They were born to this world
the difficult place
equipped with less hand-luggage
than all the rest of us...

We grown ups are so great
in action and in words.
Our little sister and brother
will never really grow up.

We have our fields and meadows
we have our merchandize.
And we are calculating
in victory and loss.

It is so very easy
to push away the weak
and leave them there just standing
with a helpless-looking face.

Forgetting is so easy:
When last ship is to sail,
must every passenger leave
their luggage all behind.

Then maybe it is simpler
for these small ones, because
they only have a heart
with sorrow and with joy.

And joy is such a wonder.
But sorrow is so sad.
Our sister and brother always
knew inside their hearts.

So let us give them joy
untill they shall embark
our little sister and brother
with their childish hearts...
