The Marriott Montage

Prince Charming

This lunchtime, I ventured out to Fulham to attend a special showcase of 80's rock legend, Adam Ant. I'd been invited through work by Live Nation, who are behind the promotion of his forthcoming tour of the UK in May.

I've never seen Adam live, despite being a big fan of his in the 80's - my favourite decade for music. As a kid, I secretly wanted to be him. As a teen, I secretly had a crush on him. He was the epitome of cool, and had such a debonair way about him, which was linked with a dangerousness - which is obviously why so many people fancied him back then.

After his much publicised troubles with mental illness and brushings with the law, I am pleased to say Adam is BACK! BACK! BACK! (Catchphrase courtesy of Smash Hits magazine, circa 1981).

Now joined by his new band, Adam in 2011 is like the Adam we knew and loved back in his heyday: cheeky, confident, daring and attractive. He really HAS got his mojo back.

With a set that comprised of Adam & The Ant classics such as Car trouble, Ant Music and Stand & Deliver, Adam spoiled the journos and photographers to a 45-minute long set of hits and covers, including songs by his idols, such as Marc Bolan and Iggy Pop.

He looked fit too. Three songs in, he threw off his leather jacket to reveal some bulging biceps and a few cool tattoos.

Despite the absence of new material, Adam certainly stood and delivered!
