New Zealand: Road to the West

I left Invercargill this morning quite early and decided i'd avoid driving to "Milford Sound" (despite hearing how amazing it is) mainly due to it's lack of roads up to the west coast, so i would need to double back on myself in order to go up to the west coast. So, i drove to Queenstown thinking i would stop here again for another night.

It is about 250km from Invercargill to Queenstown and a further 400km from Queenstown to the west coast, so queenstown seemed to be the most appealing stop off for a night. After spending 2 hours in the town i felt i had the energy to drive further up and so the journey continued. I took this photograph just outside Queenstown in what was to be one of many lakes i was to come across heading to the west.
