Training in Public

The dogs often perform at Game and Country Fairs or other busy events, so they need to learn to concentrate and work anywhere. Today we went to the local shopping area to have our training session in the middle of the busy Saturday morning shopping.

It was brilliant. There were so many distractions and the dogs just ignored them.

Hero, the young Border Collie on this blip, is only 8½ mth old and he can sometimes be distracted if just one person passes us when he is working, but there were so many people, cars and other distractions around us today and he only lost focus once, when a big Golden Retriever boy came towards us looking threatening and with no owner to be seen. That was ok though - I was worried about that too! Luckily the retriever decided to leave us alone and training continued.
