Blue snake

When the tide is low and the sun is bright I love this effect you get of the river, Afon Gwaun, winding along its channel through the harbour. It's there when the harbour is full too, but hidden beneath the salt water, like the arteries that keep flowing through our bodies, invisible to us.

The old harbour was the location for the 1972 film of Under Milk Wood with Richard Burton. (Elizabeth Taylor never visited: she did her part in the studio.) Moby Dick, with Gregory Peck, was filmed here in 1955 using an inflatable whale.
