Red

[backblip]

1. That's what Samantha calls her Fiat 500
2. We'd spotted 5 Red Kites on the drive up here, stopped off to see if any were still around today.
3. With the amount of road kill on this stretch of road there was plenty of this colour on show.
4. It was the predominant colour of my bloodshot eyes as I looked in the mirror.

No Red Kites today though, just a solitary Kestrel. The previous day, as well as the 5 Kites we'd spotted a couple of Buzzards, we almost ran over a ferret/stoat as it lunged out on to the road but shot straight back as we approached, as well as numerous mad pheasants with an apparent death wish. There was also what looked like a Chinchilla sitting frozen still in the opposite lane (I suspect it was a young rabbit and also suspect it wouldn't have been all cute and fluffy much longer if it remained there).

I'm so glad Samantha was there as co-driver and it was good to get back home after a frenetic couple of days to a warm and cosy couch for a proper Sunday snooze.

Thanks again Tam and Isobel for your hospitality and your Sunday square sausages. Looking forward to the next one.
