Looking out to sea for eternity

I love this statue by the Liver Buildings, i think it looks reminiscent of 'communist heroic ' sculpture. Because of its location by such an iconic building its often overlooked.
I love the fact that it was created by public subscription from around the world after the last world war to commemorate often forgotten men, the engine room crew and merchant seamen who had given their lives in terrible conditions below decks.

Nice to think that they are remembered, looking out to sea catching the last rays of the setting sun.
