Civil war is thirsty work

especially on a sunny day.

We had a trip out to Elvaston Castle today and came across a small group of civil war re-enactors pausing from the strife to take a refreshing cup of tea and some ice cream.

We got talking to one of the chaps, who swore this was his normal attire, and he then started telling the boys and a few other little lads that gathered about how his musket worked (or apparently how it really didn't work and most soldiers ended up just clubbing the other side over the head with them)

My favourite question was another lad who asked "do those guns kill people?" "Yes" was the answer "although not this one and the lad just turned to his brother and went "I told you so!

There will be around 800 - 1000 re-enactors at the castle on May weekend with guns and cannons blaring - a sight to see.
