Gustav Freytag
I had to go to the Post Office today - on my own - not a problem as it turns out. My German is not the horrible garble I think it to be. Although I always blow it when I've managed to get through a German conversation without a "Bitte, langsam" or an "Entschuldigung". I can't help it. I walk off with a cheery "thanks very much" followed by the swift realisation that I am an idiot.
After that I thought a walk in the Kurpark would be good as I haven't been there for an age. It was lovely. A walk round the lake and up to the top of the park where I took today's Blip. I like the light on the statue and the magnolia petals all over the place.
Being the thorough soul that I am, I checked to see who the dude in the statue actually was. He was Gustav Freytag. And I had been utterly unaware of him and his works until today. I suspect I will not be alone in that.
Off now to read up on what we'll cover in Sprachschule tonight. I refuse to be sidetracked by words I don't know.
