Monolith

This fine granite boulder forms part of the drystane dyke that acts as a retaining wall holding back the bank above our driveway.

None of the other stones in the dyke are on anything like this scale. It reminds me of the numerous recumbent stone circles across the local area.

We've spent quite a bit of time over the past couple of weeks clearing the stones of overgrowth of grass and moss and planting lavender, lithodora and other species that will spread and tumble over the wall.
