SCOTTISH AVIATOR

WE ALL LIVE IN A MIDGET.....

.....Submarine!!!

The joys of living next to beach took me for a 10 mile jaunt along the coast line of East Lothian and Aberlady where I stumbled on a pair of Midget Submarines.

This particular pair of Midget Submarines make a rather noticable distraction from the natural sorroundings of Aberlady Bay and its enclosed Nature reserve but you cant help but feel that after 65 years of sitting in situ, leaves a rather poignant feeling.

The story behind them, goes, The Royal Air Force organised this pair of XT-Craft to be towed into Aberlady bay, moored to a concrete block and used as gunnery practice back in 1946. After the war had finished noteably, but worth ensuring the skills were kept by the Airmen of the RAF?

Remarkable to think that four men would work within such tight confines during normal midget submarine operations. Increadible.
