Legend of the Dogwood

The legend of the Dogwood runs deep in Christianity...faith is a mysterious thing.

The 4 petals represent the shape of the cross that Christ died upon.
The blood colored stains on the petal tips represents the blood Jesus spilled during his sacrifice.
Legend has it that the Dogwood used to be a mighty tree and was used to assemble the crosses used for crucificition, until shame was brought upon it.
The bright clarity of the white blooms represents the purity of Christ.
It always blooms during the Lenten and Easter Season...interesting since this varies on the calendar by about 6 weeks each year.
