Weather Warning

Today it's been blowing a gale again and pouring with rain - but on the positive side it did allow John the Builder to check his new gutters and to try and find where the water in front room is coming in.

Well we know it's not the gutters, so it looks like the edge of the Dormer windows are to blame. So the next job is to get them fixed and new windows installed.

Also today we had a visit from two members of the village voluntary Fire Service. They popped in to offer advice on fire protection and to check all our safety systems like the smoke alarms and extinguishers - we passed with flying colours.

The were telling me that on Christmas Eve it took them eight minutes from receiving an emergency call to arriving at the house fire. Now that's the kind of service that makes you sleep a little bit easier at nights.
