Don't Shoot Dai

History

This is a rather nondescript set of gates, (and how the hell do I photo that?) on Royal Crescent. It does not look like it serves any purpose; particularly given the fact that there is a tree / ivy bush growing behind it and there is twenty foot drop below it, but clearly had a function once - and as it transpires the main gates to the 1895 Scottish Cup winners.

St Bernards are one of the Scottish equivalents of Bradford Park Avenue, Accrington Stanley and Derwen (i.e. Football clubs that have gone bust). I am led to believe it was the Second World War that really put the nail in the coffin of the club, and the football ground now straddles a car park and Scotland Yard (King George's V Park) - even being the 'Gymmie' before that. This is the last visual clue to anything being there. You wouldn't even give it a second glance if you walked past.

Quite a pointless blip really, but then again everything can tell a story.

In other news this time next year I will be getting married - or more precisely doing it again with my wife in a sort of celebration / vow renewal.
