Airport architecture

I like airports. I enjoy the sense of suspended animation that I get in transit. That my sole task is to get to the gate on time. There are no other calls on my time. No other responsibilities. And I can switch off my phone and my email and lose myself in this anonymous, homogeneous world that is like a cross between a giant shopping mall and Fort Knox.

I like these spaces and the special kind of plastic oblivion that they confer on me. It is just as well, as I am currently spending rather a lot of time in them.

This is Edinburgh, not that anyone would know. Delhi tomorrow.
