Avoca

Headed south to Avoca today, home of the famous Avoca handweavers and the even more famous Ballykissangel. The handweavers place is very clever. They just let you wander pretty much anywhere around the weaving sheds while the guys are work away at the incredibly Heath Robinson looms. The looms are amazing wooden contraptions that Wallace and Gromit would be proud of. Handles and pedals and held together with string and parcel tape. The combination of the slightly gloomy light, wooden machines and brightly coloured threads and fabrics makes it a bit of blip heaven.

Next door there's a few machines churning out less hand woven material.
