Learning day by day

Work

Went to London today to meet with my friend who lives in South Wales. She came up on the train and Carys and I meet her at Paddington. We were also lucky enough to catch up with another mutual friend and her daughter for a quick coffee. They were in London because the other half is doing the marathon.

Can't believe how quickly the day went. We visited the aquarium and then went for food at the Festival Hall. Walked back and saw the queue for the eye and decided against joining it! Instead we went in search of soldiers, past Big Ben, past the Cenotaph, past Downing Street to Horse Guards. No horses today only the obvious signs of their previous occupation of certain spots. Saw a couple of soldiers, one of whom was either struggling not to sleep on his feet or not to pass out, we couldn't decide.

We then decided to walk Claire down to Victoria (where she was meeting her brother) past Buckingham Palace, but I had forgotten that the preparations for the marathon would be under way, and how. So this is my entry for this weeks challenge. The mall looked great with huge Union Flags hung from the lamp posts in preparation for the big day later in the month, but I thought the building of this gantry was the best shot as I know how happy so many thousands of people will be to see it tomorrow.
