Jess & Molly Law

How did you do that?

It takes different things to frighten Jess & Molly.

For Jess, it is fireworks and boats. Luckily, bangers are not let off frequently. Mostly, we can anticipate when they are going to happen, and we can give her a sedative. We don't have to go on boats very often. We have been to Lismore, Luing & the island in the middle of Loch Leven. All are short journies, and we have comforted her all the way. Even so, she still arrives shaking, although she enjoys the trip while she is back on land.

Molly is frightened of hunger and of low-flying jets. We can treat the fear of hunger by feeding her well; but we can't do anything about the jets. I am sure that Molly would like us to vote for that nice Mr Cameron, who seems to be the only politician who wants to close the nearby Leuchars Air Force Base.

Both hate hoovering, and getting the wheelie-bins out onto the street is a weekly ritual. One of us takes the bin while the other holds back Jess & Molly who want to attack it like Tom goes after Jerry in the cartoons.

This blip shows their different reactions to the garage door. We recently had a remote-controlled electric door fitted. Just before this was taken, Jess was asleep, sunning herself on the patio. Molly was asleep in the shade of the pampas grass.

As soon as I pressed the remote to open the garage, Jess was afoot, staring at the opening door and wondering if it posed any danger. Molly (her paw can just be made out, obscured by the door-handle: see it in large) is not bothered. She stays in dreamland.
