Sgwarnog: In the Field

Apples of the Moor

Another beautiful spring day, which saw us take a picnic over to Ilkley Moor, before heading back for an afternoon in Saltaire/Baildon's Roberts Park.

This shot comes from our short morning walk on the moor, from White Wells, over to Ilkely Tarn. I was tempted by more of a postcard image of White Wells, but ended up being drawn into the beauty of the bilberries. It seems very early for fruit to be showing, and there will be another couple of months of ripening yet, but in this early 'rose' stage, they look like apples of the moor.

Roberts Park was very busy as it has been World Heritage weekend, so there were a few events in addition to the band on the bandstand and the cricket match. After its reopening following refurbishment last year I think it has become the place to laze around on a Sunday afternoon, if you can call chasing a football around with a 6yo lazing.
